The M-48 enables control of up to 40 audio channels via 16 stereo groups. No longer do you have to share the same sources and in the same order as everyone else. Each musician can choose what he or she wants to listen to - a truly personal mix.

A limiter is incorporated for protecting your ears from sudden and dangerous volume spikes. Unparalleled Usability

The built-in ambient mic aids in communicating with other musicians without have to remove your ear-buds or headphones as well as enabling a stage/room feel if desired. The AUX Input allows a metronome or other device to be mixed into the primary sound.

Convenient Connectivity
Our newly developed "REAC Embedded Power" (via the S-4000D) transfers both power and 40 channels of audio to the M-48 via a single CAT5e cable —dramatically simplifying wiring and stage layouts. Mini jack and 1/4 inch phone jack headphone outputs are provided. Balanced TRS line outputs support wedge or other types of powered monitors. An independent stereo output mini jack enables recording with superb sound quality.

Connect to an existing Analog/Digital Console
With an existing console, connect the M-48 along with the S-1608 (16 channel) or the S-4000S (40 channel) Digital Snake to utilize the complete system. For a digital consoles, use the S-MADI REAC MADI Bridge to maintain the digital connection between the console and the M-48s. The next generation of digital monitoring can be incorporated along with your existing mixing system.

Setup and Manage the M-48 on your PC
M-48´s can be setup and controlled on your PC when using with an existing console. Simply connect to the serial port on the S-1608 or S-4000S series Digital Snakes.

Included Mounting Plate
The M-48 can be attached to the top of a microphone stand by using the bundled mounting bracket. The mounting bracket is also designed with a removeable headphone hanger and accessory tray for your pencil or portable recorder. The optional APC-33 mounting bracket can be used when you need to mount the M-48 to the middle of a music or mic stand.

S-4000D - The REAC Splitter Equipped with Embedded Power
"REAC Embedded Power" is unique Roland technology that enables the transfer of not only the digital audio signal but also the power required by the connected device - all via one CAT5e cable. The S-4000D Splitter and Power Distributor is equipped with 10 REAC ports including 8 ports of REAC Embedded Power. The S-4000D can automatically detect and distinguish a product not supporting REAC Embedded Power. In this case, power is not provided allowing the S-4000D to also function as a standard splitter when required. The S-4000D is required to use the M-48s.

The Next Generation of Simple, High Quality Audio Transfer

REAC (Roland Ethernet Audio Communication) is Roland´s original technology for low latency, high quality digital audio transfer. Products using REAC technology are installed today in many venues and have been used for high profile events worldwide. REAC´s 24-bit, 40x40 channel protocol delivers pristine digital audio via lightweight, inexpensive and easy to install cable (Cat5e). REAC technology is immune to externally induced signal quality degradation or hums and buzzes typically found in analog systems. You have more freedom in cable placement resulting in lower cost and better sounding installations.

questions about products

- I´ve set up my REAC B Output patches[virgula] and I´ve sent some sources to groups[virgula] but I just don´t get any audio out of the M-48! Why?

To start[virgula] be sure your snake system or V-Mixing system is sending adequate audio signals. (If you are sending direct out´s from the M-400[virgula] are they pre-fader? If you sending AUX SENDS[virgula] are they turned up? etc). Try connecting a powered monitor to a REAC B Output port to verify you are getting audio from that port. Once you´re sure your REAC B Output ports are producing audio[virgula] you need to make sure your M-400 console and RSS Digital Snake devices are all fully updated with the latest firmware or patches. The M-400 can be updated via USB stick[virgula] but the Digital Snake devices must be updated using the S-4000RCS program and a 9-pin serial connection. - I have patched some sources to Groups in my M-48´s. But I noticed in my M-48´s I still hear some sources that I didn´t patch to any Groups at all! Why is that?

"By default[virgula] each of your M-48´s will ""hear"" all the sources that are assigned in your M-400 REAC B Output Patchbay[virgula] or all the sources from your standalone Digital Snake stage unit. If you want to ""mute"" any of these sources so they are not heard in the M-48[virgula] go to the SOURCE LEVEL/PAN menu of the M-48(s) and set the unwanted source´s fader level to minimum. This will ""silence"" that source in that M-48. Repeat with additional sources or additional M-48´s as necessary."

- How can I set up an M-48 in the M400RCS program offline[virgula] then save those settings to an actual M-48 in my V-Mix system?

"In ""offline"" mode[virgula] you need to make sure the REAC B Output Patchbay has patched all desired sources to REAC B Output ports. You can then assign these REAC B Output ports to Groups in your ""virtual"" M-48. Make all other Virtual M-48 settings as desired. If you want to transfer these ""virtual"" settings to a real M-48[virgula] go to the M-48 Manager window and select Library. Select an open Library number and select Store. Name your Library Store and select Store. Save your newly modified Project file: FILE > SAVE PROJECT AS. Copy the new Project file to the PROJ folder of your USB stick. Put the USB stick in your M-400. Go to SYSTEM > LOAD/SAVE. In the Load Section filter[virgula] you may want to selct ""M48 Library"" only so you aren´t loading any errant data from your offline M-400 project. After loading[virgula] that new M48 Library entry will be available to any of your M-48 unit. To copy it over[virgula] go to M-48 Manager[virgula] highlight the target M-48 unit[virgula] select Library[virgula] highlight your newly made Library file and select Recall. The selected M-48 will load all those settings. Repeat for every M-48 unit or Library Store that you have."
